Why analog?

Analog photobooths are a magical remnant of the past, and a medium that a small but passionate community is keeping alive. There are currently fewer than 300 operating analog booths in the entire world, so each one is incredibly special.

What’s the difference?

Unlike newer digital booths, analog photobooths produce a single strip that is truly one-of-a-kind. Behind the door in the booth is a tiny darkroom with lab solutions that each strip goes through, developing in real time. Often called dip-n-dunk booths, there is a mechanism called the spider that literally dips and dunks the strips through each chem bath.

Where to find booths?

We are part of an incredibly creative and determined community dedicated to preserving analog booths worldwide. You can learn more and locate booths at Photobooth.net, which is an incredible steward of the medium and has a worldwide booth map.

You can also follow Four Poses Five Minutes, who is on a journey to visit every booth and has great info!

how does someone get involved with analog booths?

Every photobooth technician, owner, and operator has had a different path, with many starting as photographers. We started as enthusiasts who were hired as technicians, then graduated to operating our own booths! If you’re interested in training to be a technician, we recommend reaching out to local booth owners near you to see if they’re hiring. (Although we’re currently not.)

how do I BUY AN ANALOG BOOTH?

Unfortunately, analog booths are extremely rare and hard to find, making purchasing them both very difficult and expensive. (See more in our video here!) If you’re truly interested in owning a booth, we strongly recommend you start by learning about how to become a technician and getting invovled with the analog community in other ways.
